5-year-old Kelsey is a little girl in a VERY big battle. She has spent the past year undergoing countless difficult tests and procedures to fight a rare form of leukemia. She currently lives in the hospital because going outside or playing with friends or her brother might make her sick.
But little miss Kelsey is a Wonder Girl because she faces all this with the cutest smile on her face. She's a fighter and an inspiration! Sooo many people (and sooo many animals!!) showed up from...
to color their hearts out, including everyone who came to the grand opening of The Good King Outpost (the grant-funded 8 week pop-up coloring studio in Cincinnati!)
(Eduardo from California with nieces and nephews)
26-year old Eduardo is one fun guy. Just ask all his nieces and nephews, they love to be around him. He's generous and goes out of his way to make people laugh. Being sick, however, is not so fun. Sickness, surgery, more sickness, more treatment...he's trying to keep smiling but some days it's tough!
The Good King tribe heard his story and this is what they had to say!..
Look who got his book! Sir Eduardo of Fun!! He was so surprised! He sat down to read it and by the time he finished he had tears coming down his cheeks. Well done, tribe!
Daniel is a SuperMan with a bright future ahead of him. After a pretty terrible bump on the head in a motorcycle accident, doctors thought he wouldn't wake up. But he did! They thought he'd wake up a different man, probably a mean and angry one. But he was still his same sweet self, even praying out loud for his doctors and nurses though they couldn't always understand what he was saying. He had to learn lots of things over again, like walking and talking. He even had to fall in love with his wife all over again, because he doesn't remember meeting or falling in love with her the first time. She's quite lovable, so that was probably the easiest part. If you want to keep up on his recovering you can follow his Facebook page!
The tribe heard his story and this is what they had to say!
Being a mom of 6 boys makes Mary Lou a queen! She's a queen known to follow The Good King wherever that might lead.
Mary Lou was following The Good King when she decided to start helping girls rescued from slavery. Then she found out she was very sick, so she followed The Good King through the coming and going and coming again of the sickness. She even decided that, if the end of her reign here on earth would somehow mean more people would be with her in heaven, well...then...she'd gladly follow The Good King to the end. Good queens are always thinking about others.
So The Good King showed up to thank her for loving others and to help her be brave. This is what they had to say!
James is an amazing husband and dad and one of the most friendly, smiley people you'll ever meet! He has a bright future ahead!
EVERY DAY he has to go to the doctor's office and take FIFTY pills. FIFTY! It's quite a sacrifice. But "sacrifice" was something he was ready to do when he joined the military and bravely went down to help people after Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago. A virus he got in that big mess damaged his heart and now he has a special machine in there that keeps it pumping until he gets a new one some day. It's tough. But he bravely smiles anyway!
The Good King Tribe heard his story and this is what they had to say...
(This is Billy and he turns 14 today! He is sweet and kind and deserves lots of love on his birthday (which without the right friends in your life can be less than happy). When the people in The Good King tribe heard about Billy, his big heart, and his quickly-approaching birthday they had only three days to print and color Billy's special page. With no time to mail, they took pictures instead! Which has been amazing because it's the first time we get to see everyone's adorable faces!
Leave a comment on this post to wish Billy a happy birthday!!)
Hey Billy, we wish we could spend your birthday with you in person. But we wanted to let you know that people all over the US (and India!) are thinking of you and your big heart today! We think you are very special! May your life be filled with close friends, loving family, meaningful work and lots of fun!
We love you!
The Good King Tribe

As 2017 is nearing a close, The Good King (est. 6/17) is approaching 2000 colored pages colored by kids and grown ups all over the US (and Canada) and sent to the worthy recipients. We're working to update the blog with all the successful mission stories. Check back soon!
Life has not been easy for friend of The Good King, Miss Jenny. As a kid, the grown ups who should have taken care of her treated her pretty terribly. It left her without a home to go home to on the holidays. Being a grown up hasn't been easy either. Several life-long sicknesses make it really hard for her to get out of bed every day. But does that keep her from being awesome? Nope. That's what makes her a champion.
She's a loving wife and mom because she knows the value of family. She teaches English to immigrants because she knows what it's like to be unable to go home. She loves on girls who have been rescued from slavery because she knows what it's like to be mistreated. Jenny the Champion deserved some love from The Good King Tribe.
And The Good King Tribe SHOWED UP! This is what Miss Jenny had to say about receiving all those sweet coloring pages...
"I want to tell you about the sweetest love that showed up this weekFrom the littlest hands to some not so little came these sweet pictures and notes
Tears streamed in a bit of disbelief and humbled awe as I held all that love in my hands
It was an overwhelming grace to me at the end of a hard day
It showed up late in terms of how long it took to get here but it was right on time for me (seriously our mail is unusually slow)
I didn't even realize how much I needed that until my tears reminded me
I don't feel like a champion or a warrior. In fact I was feeling quite the opposite
I happen to know the strongest warrior there is though and I'm so humbled that he would use the hearts of children to encourage me
One picture would have done it
48....well, I'm undone
Thank you to Follow The Good King ministry
Thank you, Ellen, for nominating me to be showered with all this love"
Way to go, Tribe! You're using your love of coloring to change the world!
It's clear not all is as it should be when sweet little girls have to battle big ugly sickness. But Makayla is very very brave and she is not fighting alone. She has a super big brother, Tyler, by her side and a WHOLE LOT of people who love her like crazy. The Good King is much much bigger than the big ugly sickness and He loves her like crazy too.
So the kids in The Good King Tribe colored their hearts out and sent them a whole lotta sweet colored pages. Tyler and Makayla were thrilled and each picked their favorites to frame in their room.
Keep cheering their family on via their Facebook page "Thumbs Up For Makayla"
