The world needs more people as magnificent as Erin. Despite physical challenges and learning disabilities, Erin worked incredibly hard to graduate college. Why? Because she had her heart set on helping kids with seriously special needs power their way through school too. And though she often leaves work with scratches and bruises, she comes back the next day with a smile on her face. She loves helping special needs kids so much she also does it in the evenings! Paying her bills may be tough sometimes but she feels pretty rich. Thanks to YOU, Miss Erin received some surprise love and appreciation from The Good King tribe! Way to go!
The Barnes family is super. They’re doing whatever it takes to help the youngest Barnes, 3-year-old LJ, conquer brain cancer. They’ve even temporarily moved their family from Anchorage, Alaska, all the way to Cincinnati, Ohio, (that’s very far)to get him the best treatment possible.
In between treatments in Cincinnati they’re doing their best to live life to the fullest. 6-year-old Emmaleigh has worked hard to help take care of her little brother. And as a family they've gotten involved in a local church and in the community. They recently spent a whole day doing volunteer clean up and yard work with their new church friends in parts of the city that needed some love!
Two-year old Curren has already earned knighthood. Since being diagnosed with leukemia in October, he's put up quite a brave fight. And he's winning! But the battle isn’t over. The medicine he takes to keep the sickness away makes him feel all kinds of pretty terrible. And he's gotta take it for three more years. Thanks to YOU, the tribe cheered him on with a coloring book to get him through the good days and bad!
Being a mom of 6 boys makes Mary Lou a queen! She's a queen known to follow The Good King wherever that might lead.
Mary Lou was following The Good King when she decided to start helping girls rescued from slavery. Then she found out she was very sick, so she followed The Good King through the coming and going and coming again of the sickness. She even decided that, if the end of her reign here on earth would somehow mean more people would be with her in heaven, well...then...she'd gladly follow The Good King to the end. Good queens are always thinking about others.
So The Good King showed up to thank her for loving others and to help her be brave. This is what they had to say!
(Eduardo from California with nieces and nephews)
26-year old Eduardo is one fun guy. Just ask all his nieces and nephews, they love to be around him. He's generous and goes out of his way to make people laugh. Being sick, however, is not so fun. Sickness, surgery, more sickness, more treatment...he's trying to keep smiling but some days it's tough!
The Good King tribe heard his story and this is what they had to say!..
Look who got his book! Sir Eduardo of Fun!! He was so surprised! He sat down to read it and by the time he finished he had tears coming down his cheeks. Well done, tribe!
Daniel is a SuperMan with a bright future ahead of him. After a pretty terrible bump on the head in a motorcycle accident, doctors thought he wouldn't wake up. But he did! They thought he'd wake up a different man, probably a mean and angry one. But he was still his same sweet self, even praying out loud for his doctors and nurses though they couldn't always understand what he was saying. He had to learn lots of things over again, like walking and talking. He even had to fall in love with his wife all over again, because he doesn't remember meeting or falling in love with her the first time. She's quite lovable, so that was probably the easiest part. If you want to keep up on his recovering you can follow his Facebook page!
The tribe heard his story and this is what they had to say!
James is an amazing husband and dad and one of the most friendly, smiley people you'll ever meet! He has a bright future ahead!
EVERY DAY he has to go to the doctor's office and take FIFTY pills. FIFTY! It's quite a sacrifice. But "sacrifice" was something he was ready to do when he joined the military and bravely went down to help people after Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago. A virus he got in that big mess damaged his heart and now he has a special machine in there that keeps it pumping until he gets a new one some day. It's tough. But he bravely smiles anyway!

(This is Billy and he turns 14 today! He is sweet and kind and deserves lots of love on his birthday (which without the right friends in your life can be less than happy). When the people in The Good King tribe heard about Billy, his big heart, and his quickly-approaching birthday they had only three days to print and color Billy's special page. With no time to mail, they took pictures instead! Which has been amazing because it's the first time we get to see everyone's adorable faces!
Leave a comment on this post to wish Billy a happy birthday!!)
Hey Billy, we wish we could spend your birthday with you in person. But we wanted to let you know that people all over the US (and India!) are thinking of you and your big heart today! We think you are very special! May your life be filled with close friends, loving family, meaningful work and lots of fun!
We love you!
The Good King Tribe

This is MY Great Aunt Norma and she certainly is great. She just found out she's very very sick and starts treatment tomorrow. Will you help me cheer her up?
What makes her so great?--She's spent her whole life loving kids!! She never had kids of her own but she spent decades teaching 2nd and 3rd grade. Now she tutors kids, volunteers for Operation Christmas Child, and makes meal packets for kids who can't afford meals at home. She also sings in the church choir and has a horse farm! She's a special lady with some pretty tough days ahead. Thanks to you, my mom got to deliver your coloring pages to Norma and read to her at her bedside. Thanks tribe :)
